# Be Fit and Healthy Rather than Fat and Lazy

Uncategorized @ 27 January 2012

You can’t go very far without seeing signs telling you how important it is to become healthier. We’re always hearing about how we need to be more fit, physically. Shape up – that’s what you’re hearing from magazines, television billboards, and books. Eat better food! Of course, the irony here is that these ads are often promoting new, "light fare" menus at local restaurants. Most consumers are genuinely confused about what they need to do in order to adopt that healthy and fit lifestyle they are told they need. This article explains what steps are needed to become the healthy and fit person you’ve been reading about.

It’s no secret that you need regular exercise. But don’t think that you’re supposed to work out until you’re blue in the face on a daily basis. That’s nowhere near the truth. Your muscles are going to require a lot of rest after workouts if you hope for them to grow big and strong. Your muscles don’t grow as you are working them and tearing them down during exercise, but only through rest and recuperation.

The ideal workout schedule is to do one hard day and then one easy day. For example, you could do a full workout on Monday, Wednesday and then on Friday. Do quick and easy workouts (go for a walk, do a few pushups) Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

It’s also important to make sure you’re getting a proper amount of sleep. Every day we push our bodies to the limit. We pull long hours into the night in order to get it all done. It means that we are getting up earlier and earlier. This leaves us with very little time to get the rest we really need. Your sleep time is important time for the body to fix the damage that was done the previous day. Your body’s batteries are recharged while you sleep. On average, adults need to get at least eight hours of sleep a night. See for yourself by trying to get eight hours of sleep a night for just one week to see what a difference it can make.

Set aside down time for relaxation. It’s not necessary to go to sleep during or after this time. You need this time to eliminate and remove the stress that could otherwise have a negative impact on your health. This can mean watching some television. Or you could go for a walk during this relaxation time. It can mean taking a long hot bath or taking some time to read the next chapter of your book. The bottom line is that you have to get a handle on daily stress before it gets a hold on your health. Staying healthy and fit can be done in a number of ways. You can still have what you want without putting yourself through hell. You can feel better about your workout without inconveniencing yourself a bit. You can simply make the choice to live better and make better choices. Make harder choices and smarter choices. Don’t be a couch potatoe. From there staying healthy isn’t that hard!
